Review of Tinchy Stryders new CD

Tinchy Stryder's ascension from grime crew Ruff Sqwad's squeaky-voiced 14-year-old gimmick to one of Britain's biggest pop stars may have taken a decade – but the past two years have been meteoric for him. Third Strike aims, first and foremost, to maintain the momentum set by 2009's crossover album Catch 22.

This comes at the expense of any surprises or twists, though. Tinchy seems content to consolidate his territory with more of the same. The album piles on faux-inspirational choruses, platitudes about perseverance and empty, vague yearning relentlessly. Trebly electro synths and needless Auto-Tune is slathered over the production like cheap icing: light and shade are eschewed. Tinchy's dogged flow fits the aesthetic, but fails to elevate it: an unthreatening likeability has been the key to his crossover, and he mostly sticks firmly to bland nice-guy roles in lieu of having anything memorable to say or ways in which to say it.

It wouldn't be so disappointing if Tinchy hadn't already proved himself capable of better – and as on Catch 22, there are a couple of cuts on Third Strike on which he cuts loose, both musically and lyrically. Gangsta? twists and turns with genuine energy, Tinchy suddenly sounding hungry and full of life. Even better, the grimy, bass-heavy beat of Game Over provides the base for a menacing posse cut that brings the best out of all involved – and it must surely be cause for optimism that it was chosen as a single above some of Third Strike's less inspiring moments. Let's hope this foreshadows what could still be a brilliant career.

Media (Upcoming movies)

On my last visit in the cinema, I have watched a few movie trailers for the upcoming year, 2011. There had been a lot of good films released this year, but the trailers had made me look forward to 2011. These are a few of the movies that had caught my interest:

1. Transformers 3
I have watched the previous Transformers and have been a big fan of this movie series. Another thing to look forward to in this movie (im sure most people is looking forward to) is seeing the new leading lady who replaced Megan Fox lol.

2. Fast and the furious 5
I will be expecting another fast paced action adventure for this 5th addition.

3. Harry potter
The last part of the Harry Potter series. At last we get to find out the ending of this famous novel based movie. I have been watching this from the very beginning and I’m looking forward to see its ending (hoping it’s a happy one).

4. Paul
This film should be a good laugh, giving a new angle to an “alien” movie.

5. Gnomeo and Juliet
Another version of Romeo and Juliet. Like the original, the families are in a feud, but in this movie the characters are gnomes! This kind of movie keeps me in touch with the kid in me.
Next year should be a good year for films and should keep me entertained J

two recent movies I watched

Ohhhh yeah the two recent movies I watched was Harry Potter the Deathly Hollows part 1 and Narnia The Voyage of The Dawn Treader. Even though I never planned to watch this movies as I had been dragged along to watch it. I actually enjoyed watching it. I think both of the movies where good but I rate harry potter to be better. When I was watching Harry Potter I was expecting it to be boring but I was surprise for it to be that good. My favourite character was Dobbie, he almost made me cry specially in the ending lol. It was a very sad moment. It was filled with action packed magic and sorcery.

Narnia was also good but I think that first one was still better. I also thought the two films have a lot in common. When I was watching Narnia I fell asleep for about three minutes I think because I was tired lol.
I watch it with my girlfriend and she was very into it. About Narnia it always end the same way! As if nothing had happened to the characters, all the adventures that they had been too and the entire struggle, they always go back to the way they lived and act as if nothing had happened. I think this is the only part I hated about the movie. And for harry potter I’m excited for the last part as it is going to be the last Harry Potter movie. We can finally see what the ending is going to be!! I think if you haven’t read the book you will be excited but I know most people have if they are really into Harry Potter, as for me I haven’t read it so there is a lot to look forward to.
I think these two movies are for the family to watch and if you haven’t seen these movies yet I recommend that you do!! J

Top Gear

This popular motoring show started out in 1977 and ran until 2001, before being revived in 2002 in a new format. It features Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May as they review new cars, and sometimes older classics, in varying manners. The shows invariably feature a high-performance supercar of some format being driven very harshly around a custom built test track. Implausible challenges are shown almost every episode, usually featuring the tagline “How hard can it be?” The show would also feature famous people, mainly musicians or actors, to drive a “reasonably priced car” around the test track. This is a good show because it has good variety in the challenges, the supercars that are shown are otherwise very difficult to see in real life and the presenters themselves are very good at entertaining all manner of viewers.
The Crystal Maze
This show started in 1990 and ended in 1995. It was a mainly physical game show that saw contestants trying to win big prizes. This was achieved by collecting time crystals obtained by beating challenges in 4 categories – Mental, Physical, Skill and Mystery. The games were timed between 2 and 3 minutes and any contestant staying in the room for more time than was allotted for the game was locked in. the time crystals would give 5 seconds of time each inside the Crystal Dome, where the contestants would try to collect as many gold tokens as possible. The number of tokens that they collect determines what prize the team wins and over 100 gold credits after deduction of silver tokens will win the top prizes. The theme tune to this show was titled “Force Field” and composed by Zack Laurence. This series is a personal favourite of mine because it always has high entertainment values when contestants make mistakes during the games.
The Adventures of Tintin
This animated series was started in 1991 in an attempt to make a more faithful rendition of the books than the earlier attempts running from 1958-1962. The series ran much closer to the books, something that pleased the viewers of this series. The theme tune, and the majority of the soundtrack, was composed was composed by Ray Parker Jr. Some things were unsurprisingly changed; for instance Captain Haddock’s constant drinking of alcohol, seen commonly in the books, was toned down to avoid problems of audience sensitivities. Also, in the books Tintin’s dog Snowy was frequently seen speaking to the audience yet can’t in the series, presumably because Tintin would understand him as well. Finally, minor scenes were removed from the original storyline because of time restraints, and where possible new scenes were added in to explain some of the behind the scenes activity that hadn’t been seen in the books. This programme is a favourite of mine because of its faithfulness to the books in both storyline and aesthetics.
Road Wars

This series follows a specialized team of police officers from the Thames Valley Police, later the Devon and Cornwall Police as they try to keep control of suspects believed to be involved in drink-driving, drug related offences and other situations. Frequent themes include high speed chases and aggressive suspects. Footage of pursuits from the USA also makes appearances. This series separates itself from regular police shows because it follows the officers’ work as opposed to simply showing pursuit clips. I like this series because the police are on camera, yet always maintain their standards of professionalism throughout the program. Another good thing is the often amusing “strategies” that suspects will try in order to get away from the police.
Top 10 Ten games I have played in 2010

1.       Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Melt your face epic!
2.       Mega Man 10 – It’s got a robot sheep in it. You can’t top that!
3.       Donkey Kong Country Returns – It’s damn hard but it’s still great
4.       Pokémon HeartGold Version – It’s the same game as before, but is that a bad thing
5.       Just Cause 2 – It’s just so much fun blowing up everything and anything!
6.       Sonic & Sega AllStars Racing – Some noticeable flaws, but good fun
7.       Trackmania Nations – It’s basic, yet so addictive!
8.       Hydro Thunder – It’s like Trackmania, except on water
9.       Dragon Quest 9 – It’s pretty good but hard for all the wrong reasons
10.   Jet Set Radio – It looks and sounds great but some control issues hamper the experience

Media (Top 5 movies this year)

There have been so many top movies this year but people are debating which the top 5 are. These are the top 5 movies on the site I went on.

In the top of the list is Inception which I think deserve to be in the first place. It has everything that a movie should require. I personally like how the movie revolves around a man who can go in to people dreams and change their prospective about what they believe in.

Second from the top is Iron Man 2. I quite like this movie and I think it’s better than the previous one. It has a lot of Computer Generated Images and has a touch of comedy to go along with the action packed scenes.

Third is Toy Story 3, which is perfect for third place. Through out the year that had gone since the second movie you can see that some of the characters had disappeared. It's quite sad as some of the characters that you saw when growing up is not in the movie anymore.
Over all I loved this movie as it relieve the younger days.

In number four is Tron Legacy. I haven’t seen this movie yet but I’m expecting for it to be good and it is coming out in 3D which I especially like.
The fifth best films this year is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. To be honest I didn’t really like this film as I found it quite boring. I also think that the story is a bit confusing.

Robot Wars
This program was started in 1998 and ended in 2004. It introduced an American concept that had been running for several years prior to a British audience. The show revolved around professional and amateur members of the public building remote controlled fighting machines designed to battle each other in a purpose-built arena, although earlier series featured segments called the “gauntlet”, a challenging obstacle course, and the “trials”, which saw surviving robots take part in a challenge, usually against house robots, before battling actually takes place. Starting from series 3, the trails were dropped in favour of more battles, but were still seen in side games for additional entertainment (and allowing competing robots a chance to complete repairs). This series is highly enjoyable to me because of the sheer variety of competitors and machines that appear on the show.

Media ( Least favourite movies that came out this year)

Well it’s the end of the year and almost Christmas and around the Corner is 2011. New movies are already being developed to be shown next year and some movies are already been made.

I have to say that most of the movies that had been released this year weren’t too bad, but if I had to say something I would personally say that I’m not too fond about the following movies that had come this year.

·        First “Alpha and Omega” most children would love this movie and parents can be confident about exposing their kids to great messages of tolerance and friendship. The movie portray a lowly but fun-loving Omega wolf name Humphrey and played by (Justin Long of Drag Me To Hell and Live Free or Die Hard fame) and they are ruled by the powerful and noble Alpha wolves. If you’re a kid you would love this movie but if you’re in the right age, in my opinion I think you might end up being bored by watching this movie.
·        Second “Due Date” I think this film is not as funny as people say. Its good but I think it can be better. I personally think that hang over was better and much funnier.

This year most of the movies that came out were good and there are not much bad ones!

Media (Favourite movies)

Well this year most of the movies that had come out were extraordinary good.
I can say that they out done themselves as they keep giving us good quality movies.

I personally like to watch movies in my spare time and I sometimes go to the cinema once every two weeks. I love movies that are action pact and with a touch of comedy and romance. I don’t mind watching Disney movies to relive the younger days.
I think some people would agree with that.

There had been a lot of released movies that had come out this year that was a big hit. They keep bringing new and improved movies that revolve around Computer Generated Images which the audience adore.
They make images looks real!!!
One of the movies that were a big hit was Avatar which came out last year of 2009 I personally love how it was created and how it put you in the edge of your sit when watching it. Despite the movie on being too long as people say, for me I can say that it is just right. When I saw this movie it was in 3D and this was the first movie that I watch in 3D. I was just surprise on how it was created and how movies keep improving and evolving.
I can say Avatar is one of the best movies that I have seen and this can go in my top 3.

Pokémon: My First RPG or an Adult Playing Field?
Pokémon.  Just saying the name alone causes some people to shudder in fear, most of them parents. It is one of the most popular franchises and the second biggest selling franchise of all time, behind Mario. However, people tend to say “Why is it so popular? I mean, it’s just two furry creatures punching each other over and over again. It’s just so childish!” That is a good point and so, today, I will be comparing the two types of Pokémon players and which one of them is the target audience for the series.

The Kids: At first glance, Pokémon definitely seems to favour the kiddies over the adults. People just seem turned off the series by all the cute and cuddly furballs the series is quite well known for, like Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Meowth just to name a few. Also the series uses colourful sprites and music in the games, which gives people more of a reason to label the series as a “Kids Game” and label it off as shovelware.

Finally, the cartoon does it no favours either. Many people on the internet say that, despite its Japanese origins, it has little in the way of stereotypical themes that are normally in Japanese cartoons, at least in their original language. You see, most cartoons aimed at people 10-16 in Japan contain blood, swearing and other such things. However, Pokémon does not. This leads many people to say that this is a problem and therefore makes the series “Childish”.  However, the cartoon is owned and created by Nintendo. Nintendo don’t want to associate their series with any of the common stereotypes usually found in Japanese cartoons, as a way to preserve their reputation.

The Adults: However, there are a couple of things of things that can make people see the series from a different light. For starters, there are hundreds of Pokémon; as of the latest games in the series, Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, there are 649 Pokémon. Because of this, it can become almost addictive to find and catch them all.

Also, there’s the competitive battle scene. You see, the main thing with Pokémon is that you, provided you have the necessary requirements, you can fight anyone you like, with any six Pokémon you want. There are people in the world who take Pokémon fighting very seriously. They have multiple movesets for one type of Pokémon and a bucketload of knowledge for all the little things in battling, such as combining moves or only fighting certain wild Pokémon to boost certain stats you want.

What do I think? Well, I think it’s a careful balance. As mentioned before, the series has a mix of cute and cuddly creatures battling it out with a combat system that’s easy to learn, yet hard to master. Also, whilst most of the creatures start as something that looks like a beanie baby that’s alive, they eventually evolve into something that looks badass. So, yeah the series definitely meets both types of fans; the casual gamers, and the hardcore gamers.

This is what I think. If you have an opinion on the series, please, write what you think.

Good night and Good luck.

Least Favourite Artists

Least Favourite Artists

I have to say even though there has been so many good songs this year, there has also been so many bad songs that don’t make sense and the lyrics are bad ++++ the artist can’t sing most of the time and have to use the computer to enhance their voices.!!

The songs I dislike the most at the moment are:

·       My first and least favourite song of 2010 would have to be “I know you want me” by Pitbull, it is such a terrible song, every time it’s on I just want to scream, I know its catchy but it just is a stupid song

·       Next is “3” by Britney Spears, she just has no talent what so every, I have to admit we all love a bit of “hit me baby one more time” but we all know the new ones all have been computer generated and I bet hardly any of the song is her actually singing..

·       “One less lonely girl” by Justin Bieber,, so so so so so so unbelievably cheesy, we all know Justin you’re a ladies man but don’t write about falling in love when your only 16!

·       “Check it out” by Will.i.am and Nicki Minaj featuring Cheryl Cole, what a rubbish cover, loved “video killed the radio star” and they just completely ruined it for me.
